I have no reason to post today except to play you this song, which is so extraordinary.  It’s Iris Dement and it’s probably been out at least 10 years.  At first it’s easy to laugh off her hillbilly sound but the song is so sad, and her singing is so evocative and simple.  It’s so poignant to think of the life I’m trying to create as just another thing I’ll one day leave, or lose; but it’s freeing to think I should – can – just enjoy today a little more.  "Hold on to your lover ’cause your heart’s bound to die," indeed.  Iris Dement singing "Our Town."
