I’m from Virginia.  I graduated from James Madison University, just two hours up interstate 81 from VPI and Blacksburg.  In Virginia we just call it "Tech."  My brother went there.  Lots of my friends went there.   This Tech thing – it’s a little sad that these "things" have become common enough to have a common name, "school shootings" –  makes today one of those days where my problems and my complaints mean nothing compared to the horrors that could be – that are for some very unlucky people.   My family and my friends are all alive today: I am very grateful.

Over at Halushki, normally a very funny place, is a poem about the Beslan school massacre, that makes sense today: http://yonkogirl.blogspot.com/
